GUCCI
FALL 2019 TIMEPIECE AND JEWELRY CAMPAIGN BY COLIN DODGSON
Time has a peculiar piece in literature and libraries. The pages of a novel can be turned and read over a variety of time periods and eras, yet messages and emotions of the edition are immune to the wear of time.
In Gucci’s latest Timepiece & Jewelry campaign, Creative Director Alessandro Michelle’s love of literature inspires and backdrops singer Chris Lee as she surveys and gazes over the countless books in the 18th century Biblioteca Casanatense.
The combination of leather-bounded books and brightly colored clothes creates an intriguing and dynamic campaign by Colin Dodgson. Art director Christopher Simmonds cunningly uses the backdrop of bookshelves and novels to further accent the warmth and vivid tone of Gucci’s signature color scheme and adhere to the brilliant attributes sewn into each product.
Chris Lee, head-to-toe in statement outfits and bright colors, stands out in the rows and layers of antique bookshelves filled to the ceiling of immortal volumes. Her vibrant attire brings a modern piece to the 18th century library, furthering Gucci’s timeless, yet progressive identity in today’s world.
Their watches, label, and identity stand along the novels and literary masterpieces that will stay in our hearts and libraries forever.
